The Garden

I am thrilled with our garden in the front yard. Right now we have more cucumbers than we can really keep up with, and that's saying a lot since I LOVE cucumbers. We might need to make pickles. Which kind of seems like a shame, since the cucumbers are sooo good.
The pumpkins are kind of taking over the yard.
The blueberries aren't producing much, but once a week or so Samuel and Shira get a couple to eat. Next year we should get a bunch. The nursery told us we needed two bushes per person for a generous amount, so now that we know they do well in our yard, I guess we'll have to plant six more.
We should have watermelons in a few weeks, some little ones are starting to grow.
And I think our first canteloupe might already be ripe. Not sure how I can tell when I'm supposed to pick it.

The tomatoes are HUGE.
The Cara Cara Orange tree is full of new growth.
Unfortunately the corn has been defeated by the beans that we planted with it. I don't think this spot was quite sunny enough, and we planted late. Bummer.
My herb box is really filling out. I've already harvested that basil three times.

forget making pickles with them---bring them over to Swim Camp. By the time I got back into the kitchen this evening, the older 2 had peeled and sliced them up (after making HUGE SURPRISED EYES faces over the size of "a cucumber'!) and there was only one thin slice left for me to taste. But that's ok cuz it went on top of the tiny slice of left over lisa-made-Zucchini bread and MMMMM.....I'm in heaven. THANKS Lisa, yummy!
