Preschool Pajama Party

Once a year, the kids stuff teddy bears at school, then leave the teddy bears overnight, so that the bears can have a pajama tea party.  The next school day, we all show up in our pajamas to discover what the bears have been up to while we were gone.  I'm going to come right out and say it, I find this completely bizarre.  But I'm game.  I wore my Betty Boop pajama pants (the only pajamas I own.)

I think Samuel might also find it a little bizarre as he refused to participate - wouldn't bring a stuffed animal from home, and wouldn't leave his newly made Teddy Bear, either.  He did delight in wearing his (soccer) pajamas to school, however.
Teacher Rachel has a pair of sock monkey pajamas (and slippers).  I really enjoy doing a parent participation preschool with Samuel.  I am also really glad that I am not a preschool teacher.
Teacher Tim sets up games for the Teddy Bears to participate in.  Here, the kids throw their Teddy Bears through hoops.  While I imagine this is an excellent game to practice gross motor skills and hand eye coordination, you'd think it might be considered Teddy Bear abuse.  Just sayin'.
Teddy Bears also get to go for a swing, if one is so inclined.
I'm guessing Shira will really love this next year.

Pictures I found on the camera

Samuel was enjoying taking some pictures this morning

Prepping for Yosemite

We're getting very excited for our trip to Yosemite in two weeks.
So of course we had to practice putting up the tent.

Passover 2012

Technically, we led our very own seder last year for the first time, when Samuel got sick and we weren't able to go to anyone else's seder for fear of contaminating them.

But this year was our first planned seder with extended family.
Samuel and Shira put on a play with the 10 plagues to prep us for the seder.
It was a treat to have Grandma and Grandpa from Minnesota in town and most of the Silberman clan made it (though Suzette and Lena and Sara were sorely missed.)

Tooth Pulled, Hair Cut

Samuel's front tooth died a few months ago after Samuel whacked it falling off his bike (we think.) At his last appointment, the dentist said we needed to pull it. I was a little freaked out, but Samuel was excited and couldn't wait.

Dentist appointments are exhausting.
And the promised ice cream for the super brave boy.
(and his sister, dad and grandma, too)
And a few days after that, Samuel decided to cut his own hair. Quite the look.
Buzz cut to follow

Shira's first Fieldtrip

We had the pleasure of taking Teacher Rachel's daughter, Josephine, on our bus fieldtrip.
Shira thought the fieldtrip and Josephine were pretty fantastic.
